With a little help from our friends!
Work was not over and project not completed with us parking our bikes in Umeå once again after the fantastic skellefteå tour, No, we had a mission, and it was called Love Fest! Filled with positive energy we formed groups to get this event together in order to bring Umeå what it has brought to us... Love!
therese is excited during preparation and can not hide it !
With meetings at the venue, photo printing, promotion on stage at Studentfestivalen, bike painting, dance rehersals, soundchecks in our backs and with a little help from our friends...or rather, with a great deal of help, the first Love Fest was held on June 12 2008!
Our condom shaped photo exhibition brought in some well needed money
We all had such a great evening at "Hamnmagasinet",Café Stormen with our lovely Cecilia in charge brought a great tasting and cheap lentill soup with hummus to the people, "Sex Expert" Amanda Kernell answered questions and killed myths about sex, STÖLD performed fantastic Klezmer music that made our litle dancing feet get the dance-fever and our hearts bleed! Cambodian and Zambian participants put a dance workshop together that filled the room up with enthusiastic people ready for some culture, our bicykle auction was not only so much fun, but it also generated 5000 skr that will be put in to prevention projects on HIV/AIDS in Zambia and Cambodia (Congratualtions and thank you everyone who got to bike home on a love bike, may it be Lennart, (Un)greased lightening, FishEagle or any of the other rainbow fighters).
STÖLD doing what they do best (or at least fantastically well) in front of the
safelovetour banner
Auctioneer Maria with a happy Victoria... Hanna does not seem so happy to
part from the bike though...
Love people teaching the audience how it is done in Cambodia and Zambia
Happy owner of the Flying Horse!
When the two piece band "Dance with me" entered the stage we understood that it could not have ended in a better fashion, Victoria and Julia are two girls we will remember and listen to for a long time to come!
Dance with me bringing the evening to an end

Reaching Youth...Reaching You.

At Tundalsskolan doing the wisper game. The secret word was "safe love, save life" but it came back as "i love fish"...but at least there was some love and they got the love message -Robertsfors

Ida and Kakada were the facilitators at the Global perspective station. Here the station is in progress..... Robertsfors

At Sörböleskolan doing an introduction of thr Love Circuit. Hanna dividing the student into groups- Skellefteå

Hanna, Taonga , Maria and Nathan were the facilitators at the Ways of Transmission and Condom Use station. Here Hanna and Taonga talk about the ways of transmission.

Therese and Bunneng were the facilitators at the Hot Potatoe station. Here they are having a session with some students-Skellefteå

Ånaset-44
Skellefteå-97
The total number of people reached is incrasing because the people that we talked to also talked to their freind and the chain goes on......if you read this we have also reached you
some 300 kilometers and a lot of picnics later...
Well... from Ånäset we were at least closer to Skellefteå than Umeå. A small comfort for everyone who could feel they had a bottom.

ICA in Ånäset supported us with food, so we could have breakfast and picnic along the 66 km left to Skellefteå :)

Then we turned left towards Kålaboda....

Were we met this lovely grandparents of Maria "Lennart" Jylkää and Kakada who treated us to the best fikapaus we ever had! Kanelbullar, chocolate cookies and sockerkaka, coffee and saft made energy flow and 40 minutes later we had all the focus we needed to reach Hjoggböle!

And what on earth is better than a bbq in a lovely norrländsk byhåla (village gap) in the middle of nowhere, Hjoggböle that is, after having cycled 50 km? Therese was chicken grill master and Kakada did the flower picking. We say: what else do you need?

Well lots of picnics we have had! Sometimes we were tired, sometimes we didn't have energy to talk, sometimes all we did was laughing, some were filled with "Gott & Blandat", others with pancakes. But all of them were well needed, very memorable and made this trip the best one ever!
Here we are, somewhere around Southern Gummark (for those who have no clue where that is - get a map! - it is somewhere between Raggvaldsträsk and Skellfteå)

"Så ska de få trä kondomer på varandra"....eller??

The 10 happy folks of Safe love tour have now experienced sunset (and "spectacular" fire show) in Sävar, getting closer to God than ever before, namely sleeping in a church.

Next stop: Robertsfors. We headed off from Sävar in the morning with a 50 km ride in front of us, however, the mission of informing the youth of västerbotten about safe love makes us unstoppable!! And to be honest, it does help when people let us in to their houses on the way for a little swedish "fika", like this fantastic couple in Bullbäcken (Bun Creek)!

In Robertsfors we got to sleep in the youth centre, a house of great significance when it comes to swedish culture, we got to eat slepp and breathe rock music.... they apperantly built that city of Rock n' Roll (Sahara Hotnights, Dennis Lyxen, Frida Hyvönen....). apart from that we got to put our skills to the test. Acompanied by a journalist and camera we visited Tundalsskolan to talk about orgasms, HIV, STI, condoms and much moore. Thank all of you for that, you were fantastic !! to see the web broadcast from Tundalsskolan we link you onwards, so cool, check it out!

And here we are in Ånäset, sun is shining, ICA was kind enough to provide us with breakfast AND we had the pleasure of beeing invited by a french volonteer at the youth centre "UG Arnold", Coralie... entoxicated by the sandman and sore muscles, we prolonged our lives some 10 years only through laughter!

Last but not least, we would like to mention the promotion we have done before leaving Umeå: brännbollsyran, Apberget (monkey mountain), SR (swedish radio), putting up posters at schools, handing out condoms on culture night and VK.
thank y'all!

Keep on Keepin' on, see you soon. P
